BLACK LIVES MATTER……

it was only a few weeks ago that I wrote about how colored people mattered and shared the story of Emmett Till. Although i am not American, it saddens me to watch the videos of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. I am not sure if to call this racism because they are white officers. I just believe that both black and white we should all be united. e1e39357636027dc9e99d817a6cfb476

LIFE……..

Mom, mom the little girl that caught my attention was shouting.i looked back to see her running towards a woman whose arms were open to receive her. It made to reflect on life and and imagine how we do we don’t understand a lot  and we just live life. We meet two people who call themselves our parents and we are supposed to love them. Also we are called a name   that doesn’t matter if we like it or not. A lot of us are forced to go to school while some go because they want to achieve something they really love. We just live till a day a little child runs to us shouting mom or dad and we have our arms ever open to receive them. And one day we have to leave them alone in this world because we have to pass on its inevitable.

The hunger games and hard times have begun ‘temporarily’ in Nigeria.

Subsequent to the subsidy removal by president Muhamadu Buhari, a lot of Nigerians have been complaining; the problem is that most people dont even know the meaning of fuel subsidy and all they are concerned about is the hike in price of petroleum products especially fuel.” Fuel subsidy is the money paid by the Federal Government of Nigeria to reduce the cost of refining petroleum products, especially fuel.” Especially with the high currency exchange rate ; fuel subsidy does not seem appropriate at this time because price of goods were already inflated. Other than the apparent that subsidy removal will worsen the country’s already inflation rate or may lead to hyper inflation as prices of goods and services are bound to increase beyond the reach of many. The cost of transportation would be very high and so many houses may be in dark because the electricity is not stable and they may not be able to afford fuel to power their generators. There would be low standard of living among low income earners. Some organizations will not be able to increase the salary of their staff and might even let go of some of them go, which would increase the rate of unemployment.

But then the removal of subsidy also has its own benefits as it would firstly remove the case of fuel scarcity and long queue at filling stations. It will also ensure market stability and improve fuel supply situation through private sector participation

Most importantly, it will create labour market stability, potentially creating new jobs through new investments in private refineries and retails. It would allow the government focus on the critical sectors which include (power generation, security, education, health). It would reduce importation of refined products as local refineries will be encouraged towards production. There would be creation of employment. All these can be achieved if the removal of fuel subsidy is well implemented.Nigerians should look on the bright side and embrace the change they all asked for!

…..AND COLORED PEOPLE DO MATTER

Its crazy how one can know so much and still know so little. I basically just knew the definition of rascism and then I never really understood what it was about. Of course I had heard about the guy (Micheal Brown) that was shot in ferguson  by a police officer and also Trayvon Martin.  I listen Kendrick lamar’s rap about Compton and the killings. But never really took time to read the stories or understand all about rascism. I recently watched a movie titled NINA acted by Zoe saldana and David Oyelowo.  NINA SIMONE was not allowed to attend the Curtis institute just because she was black and couldn’t play classical music all they expected her to do was sing. After all these it didn’t still occur to me that rascism is REAL SHIT. It took someone to actually tell me that he was reading about rascism before I actually decided to think about it and then I read the story of Emmett Till. The guy was just 14years old, he didn’t even get a chance at life.

Till purchased bubble gum, and some of the kids with him would later report that he either whistled at, flirted with or touched the hand of the store’s white female clerk—and wife of the owner—Carolyn Bryant.   ~biography.com

How can someone say that a 14years old boy is hitting on his wife. Is that having trust issues, being insecure or just sheer craziness. Well I will never know why the jury that  decided the faith of Roy Bryant, Carolyn’s husband, and his half brother J.W. Milam after deliberating for 67 minutes and acquitted them; thought this act was. Whether black or brown the color of the skin should not determine how we should be treated!

know youself!

Its crazy how I can be someone one minute and the next minute I read about zodiac signs and then I allow everything I read about pisces get into my head. I read about how they give up and the next day I have a writers block. why are humans tuned to believing what we read and allowing these things to define us. don’t let anything define you, channel your feelings and move on already!
